Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly by Blue Knight Rubber Stamps~

Hi guys!
Today I'm sharing a set of cards created using the
Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly by Blue Knight Rubber Stamps.
This stamp is a beautiful and perfect for mixed media.
Let me show you~

I used Distress Oxide and lots of stencils on the top card. I love the water
stains you get when using Distress Oxide ink.  Add the ink to the cardstock
and splat water on it. The ink reacts with the water making very cool
water marks. Great for mixed media!!

Card #1 ~

After the background is created stamp the Butterfly in the center of the
card front. I highlighted with Pixie Dust and a white gel pen.
At this point stencils were added to give the mixed media look (that I love)!
Double mat on cardstock, add sentiment and the card is complete.

Card#2 ~

On this card I used a foam applicator to apply the Distress Oxide
to the card front, creating a background for the small butterflies.
I sprayed lightly with water and then dabbed off.  I then added Brushos
(a product that you sprinkle over damp paper) over the stencil. That is
where the burst of orange and red come from. The small butterflies
were stamped, cut out and adhered to the card front.  Added a
sentiment, matted  and the card is complete.

Color Swatching with the Filmstrip stamp by Darkroom Door ~

Hi guys!!
If you love swatching your inks stay tuned.
Darkroom Door has a line of Filmstrip stamps (I'm
sure you have seen them a time or two on my blog).

They are perfect for this~

I had the idea that the Filmstrip Stamp would make a great swatching stamp for my
favorite inks.  I decided to try it out by swatching my Distress Oxide inks.  I love how it
came together and that is why I'm sharing this with you. The Filmstrip stamp gives an eclectic
and unique design to the art of swatching.

Instructions:
1. Gather supplies.  Frame Stamp. Archival Jet Black ink and white cardstock cut to 7 1/2" x 2" .
Go to Ranger Ink and print out the color chart of the ink you are swatching.  This will act as your labels
for the Filmstrip sections.  They are the perfect size and will save lots of time too.
2. Stamp Filmstrip stamp.  Depending on the amount ink colors, will depend on how many Filmstrips you will
need to stamp. I did 12.  I used a stamp platform to duplicate each Filmstrip perfectly.
3.Gather inks to be swatched.
4. Take the stamped image strips and punch a hole in the top for an O ring. I used the Crop-A-Dile/Big Bite
and punched 6 at a time.  I centered the hole and marked with a pencil.
5. Take the color chart (printed from Ranger Ink) and trim the names out. I cut them in strip from
the printed out sheet.  Then cut each name off separately.
6. I laid out the Filmstrip images and glued each name above a section of the Filmstrip.  This is the
part that takes the most time.  I used Dual Tip Glue Pen by HomeHobby by 3L

I swatched one strip at a time.  This part was fun and I enjoyed creating each strip.  I put a little color
on my non stick mat and a squirt of water. Using a Ranger water brush the color was applied to the
Filmstrip section.

If you are in the states Topflight Stamps has the Filmstrip stamp (you can use my code
and get 12% off (conniemercer) in stock and
international Darkroom Door (Australia) will be happy to send the
 stamp your way.
