Faves of 2010~

I posted this one first because it is my favorite.  I submitted this one to Darkroom Door and got a guest spot for 2011.  I love their products and felt like it was a perfect fit. I will be sending my work in soon to be show cased on their blog.
I love how this one came out.  I fussy cut from Basic Grey pattern paper to get my flowers and make the cluster around the photo.
If you know anything about my scrapbooking style and favorite manufacturer~you know it is Jenni!!! I love vintage and would rather have old stuff over new stuff~just the way I am!!
This project has made the rounds but still a favorite of mine.  It was super fun to make and it sits on my desk with my beloved " buttons" in it!!!  It is a beer carton covered and embellished with Jenni Bowlin paper and goodies!!  I have made two of these !! and the bottles are Star Bucks frap ( from the grocery store).
What a cutie~Prima paper and I fussy cut the flowers out. And more Jenni!!!
Another favorite!!! Great picture and love the Basic Grey greens and the prima flower and the Jenni butterfly rub~on.  Sweet!!!!!
This is some old Prima paper I had and it worked perfect with this photo.  Another fave!!!!
I used Pink Paisley papers for these. I love the tag/card idea and make them all the time.  Super cute!!

Love to do nature layouts.  We are surrounded by it!! !These are White Fallow Deer~mama and baby taking a rest under a shade tree.  We just happened up on them and they just looked at us!! So cool!!!
This one is fairly new and I love the photos on this one.  I have more, but these are just a few of my faves for 2010.  It has been a great year and I have made new "scrappy" friends..I have big plans for 2011 so I better get busy!!! Have a great New Year and Thank You for visiting my blog and leaving comments. I appreciate  so much that you take the time to do that!!

Try it Tuesday~some card tag ideas.....

Long time ~ no post , right!!!  Yes I have been super busy with "little people" that are the greatest!!  Such fun..... but I need ( want) to get back to work~so for Try it Tuesday I thought I would show you some cute, quick cards.  These are tag cards ~ I love that term.  Instead of putting them in an envelope you tie them to a gift bag or gift.
I used Kraft cardstock and some Crate Paper and the office type ~manila tags ( top only).  These are about a 4"x4".  I painted some chipboard  pieces and stamped a sentiment on the front.  I also machine sewed the Crate paper on and used some glimmer mist.

These little cards are a little bit smaller.  I used a scallop punch to make the center piece and used some very cute cup cake stickers ( EK Success) to place in the middle of the scallop oval , circle or square.
I used white cardstock as my base and added a little sparkle with glimmer mist!!  These both are great for using your scrap papers up also.  I hope you will give them a try and have a great Tuesday!!!

Christmas 2010~keeping it real!!

Good Morning!!! I wanted to show you a little of our Christmas today!! These little deer treats are for good kids~I have them all lined up~just waiting for some very "Special People" to arrive!!
These vintage Christmas cards were sent to me by my friend Gail and what a cool way to display them in a vintage washing board with some of our deer sheds from our ranch!! Very cool!!!
Our Tree with a strand of light "gone bad"~Oh well, just keeping it real!!!
One of the animal ornament! A deer~handmade (not by me) out of canvas and then painted. These are over ten years old and I still think they are the coolest!!! We have them in different animals.
I had the grands "art mats" made from snapfish.  They are adorable~hope they enjoy them.  I'm sure the mommies will.

and last ~one of my painting!! I put this out most every year and leave it up through January.  It makes me happy!  I won't be around ( just like you) for a few days.  I have been on my lap top for three weeks~ready, so ready for my desk top back.  Have a wonderful, wonderful holiday everyone~I pray you find "joy" every where you look!!!

Try it Tuesday ~ a mini album!!

This is a mini  "purse" album I made for one of my grands!! I used Bo Bunny paper and added some "fun" trims and charms to the front. I painted about an inch in on the ring side with Claudine Hellmuth  pink paint.
I really like the look of painting the ring side instead of covering with paper ~ it breaks the pattern up nicely!
A close~up of the trims and charms!!

This is a close~up of the trims and charms used on the front!

These are the inside pages.  I added more trims and Primas, brads and buttons.  I used the tiny alphas to journal with.  The picture sizes are about a 3"x4".  Black and white and color photos were both used.

One of my favorite things to do is make something out of something that might be ready for the goodwill or doesn't have a use anymore~re-purpose it!!  I took these old view-master reels and cut them in half to make the top of my ice cream cone.  I added some red felt for the cherry on top and spelled out the word CREATE.  It made a super cute banner!!!

Here is a close~up of the banner!!  So for Try it Tuesday you have several things to try.  Have a fun ~crafty day!!! I'll be doing laundry and scrapbooking!!!

Holiday treat bags with My Minds Eye ~ Alphabet Soup!!!

Treat bags for good kids!!! I used the My Minds Eye/Alphabet Soup from heART of Scrapbooking!!The playing cards are just the cutest ever.  Makes making these treat bags easy!!! My granddaughter stamped a sentiment on the cards, with staz-on ink!
Here they are ready for the bowl!! What a festive center piece it would make also~throw in some pine cones and evergreen stems and red ribbon!!!
I made these for one of my "grands" birthday~they loved them and the treats inside.  The cards were collected up by one!!!  Have a great Saturday ~ next week will be here before you know it. You still have time to make something "crafty".  That is what I keep telling myself, anyway!!!

Beverage gift giving!!!

I made these a couple of years ago and thought someone might need a quick, cute, gift idea!!
I made this one 10"x3" from Kraft cardstock. Take off about a 1/4" on the sides for the inside pattern paper. I used some Basic Grey Christmas Papers ~ not sure on the name but there is tons of cute Christmas papers available !!!  The over the bottle hole is 1 1/2" circle punch.  Decorate to your liking and slip over a bottle of your favorite beverage and your all set!!!
This is along the same line~ just make it longer, to fold up and make a pocket!! What a cute place to hold a gift card or another "special" Christmas goody!!! And this doesn't have to be just for Christmas either~birthdays, kid school parties, teacher gifts and the list goes on.  Hope you enjoy your weekend!!  Next week is gonna be CRAZY~bring it on slowly, please!!!

Memo board with Graphic45/Steampunk

This is a wonderful gift project~ I used Graphic45/Steampunk!!  I covered a 8x10 frame.  I didn't buy anything just used what I had.  The Graphic45 paper has so many images that are perfect for cutting out to add dimension to the frame.  The inside of the frame needs to have a focal point for the writing to go and the outside to have the dimension.  Here is a close~up of the flowers with Ranger/rock candy on it. This paper can be found at heART of Scrapbooking and other awesome goodies!!
I hand cut some butterflies from the paper also.  This makes a wonderfully cute gift!! The last thing is covering your dry eraser pen with matching paper.
I have full instructions on this project and other projects, up today, on Debby's Dare blog.
Hope you have a great day and enjoy those "special moments" that the holiday's bring!!

Try it Tuesday ~ a recipe!!

Hi everyone!! December is finally here and that means Darryl's Fruit Cake to me. I make these lovely's and enjoy them all year long. My family thinks I'm crazy ~ fruit cake is not their thing but with a cup of coffee, on a cold day, and a slice of this goodness it just doesn't get any better than that. I bake them in the small loaf pans ( 2 1/2 x 4 1/2) for 45 minute. When they are done and cooled wrap them in Saran Wrap and then foil and put them in the freezer and take them out one at a time. I'm convinced no weight gain will happen if you follow these instructions!

Here is the recipe.
1 lb. dates cut in thirds
1 lb. candied pineapples ( chopped)
1 lb. red and green cherries
1/2 C brandy ( cherry or apricot)
2 C flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp salt
4 eggs
1 C sugar
3 Tbsp vanilla
2 lbs pecan halves
Mix fruits with brandy and let sit over night ( stir a few times) on kitchen cabinet.

The next day mix flour, baking powder and salt with fruit. Beat eggs stir together with sugar, vanilla ~ add to fruit/flour mixture along with Pecans. Spoon into baking pans lined with wax paper or spray loaf pans with Bakers Pam. Press mixture into pans and bake at 275 degrees. After baking let stand for 5 minutes before removing paper. The fruit cake will be moist and may not seem cooked long enough. When cool, wrap and refrigerate or freeze. Aging improves the overall flavor!!! Happy eating!!!

Long John Christmas Ornament!!

This is a favorite Christmas ornament of mine to make ~ they are easy and you can make several at one time.  The socks are baby or infant tube socks, tea dyed.  Then glue the arm on over lapping and add the tiny buttons.  Sew or glue on a knee patch and add the cloths pins to the shoulders .  When I make these I make six pairs at a time.  If you want the long johns bigger ~ just buy bigger tube socks!! A very fun project and they look so "homey" on your Christmas tree!!! Have a great day!!!

Christmas tags and more!!!

I went to a scrappy class at CraftCrossing this past weekend and the fabulous Penci taught us how to make these Christmas T!M Holtz style tags.  We had a great time and it is always fun learning how to use your "stash"!!  this girl is crazy about T!M and it shows.  She really knows her stuff as you can see.  I wish I could tell you all the things we used but I can't ~sorry!!  but I know it was T!M stuff!
This was another class taught by Pam ( the owner) ~ she is so talented and so fun!!!This stuff is by Simply Swank.  Everything from the soder iron , to the glass panels, to the cool beads, to the foil and the images ~ CraftCrossing has it.  I loved how mine came out but there is a definite learning curve on this one ~ but so fun when you get it mastered, the sodering part.  I can't wait to put this on the Christmas tree ( when it get s put up)!  Hoping hubby will do it!!!  Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy every moment!!

Bingo Game!!!

Hi everyone!! I wanted to share this "beauty" with you.  I got the stamp set from Stampin' Up! and I love it.  I made this bingo game for our grands to enjoy over the holidays!!  It did take some time to make ~ but the images stamped so clean and clear!
Here is a close up of the cards to show you how beautiful they stamped.  I used different inks on the bingo images ~ I love how colorful they look.
Here is a close up of the lid.  I used a tin that I had and recovered it with Basic Grey/Figgy Pudding pattern paper.  I sealed the cover with modge podge gold.  Can't wait to play bingo with the grands!!  For the Stampin' Up! products I used I linked to my demonstrator ~ she can help you get started !!! Have a great day!!

Try it Tuesday ~ quick cards!

I went to a card making "get together" Sunday afternoon.  I had such a great time! Thank you
Anabelle and Beth!!!  These girls are sisters and love to craft ~ this an annual event.  My third time to go and I'm never disappointed.  This card is an acrylic card made with pre- made tags and matching paper.
This is how it looks opened.  The images on the front are mirrored on the back side of the front cover.  Such a pretty "impressive" card!
These cards were made from wrapping paper and the pre-made image tags or stickers.  There is a little stamping on the "red bird" card.  These are very easy to make!

Another acrylic card with the tag images mirrored on both sides.  The inside is matching paper and a stamped sentiment.
This  is the back of the card. So cute!!

These are the last two  cards we made.  The snowflake card is so pretty and is made with a large plastic snowflake.  The girls told us these came twelve to a pack.  The blue snowflakes are stickers.  The other card with the ornaments on it ~ is stationary paper. Who would have ever guessed!  I love how the cards came out and I loved the company ~ fabulous day!! Thanks again, girls!!
