Inspiration Board Tutorial~

Inspiration Board Tutorial~

Supply List: picture frame {no glass}old or new, scissors, cardboard the size of the frame you are using, felt{several pieces}, Helmar 450 Quick Dry { what I used}, trim, material, decorations if you like, clips.

1. Cut one cardboard to fit the inside of your frame and glue on several sheets of felt {for padding}~ takes a few minutes to dry~
2. Cover the felt board with your choice of material~I used a piece I had.
3. I cut the corners in a "V" and then glued it down and clipped one side~then pulled to tighten and glued that side and clipped down.  The glue lives up to it's name~ quick dry!!
4. When all sides are glued down ~ glue the other piece of cardboard on the back and secure. Mine had nails to hold the cardboard in place.
5. Stamp the back~to make it yours !
6. I tied tulle around mine and added some stick pins, for color!

I would love for you to link me up when you get yours done~I'm sure it will "rock"!!!!
Thanks for stopping in today and enjoy "creating today"!!!

Try It Tuesday~Inspiration Board

I learned about Inspiration boards when I took a class by Jenni Bowlin.  It has made a difference in the way I create and what I create.  I put things on my Inspiration Board that inspire me~it may the shape that I like, maybe texture, maybe because it is the coolest ~ you get the point, if it makes my board ~I like!!!

Funny what catches your eye ~ we all love and are inspired by different things.  I love primative country~it reflects in my home decor, my art, my scrapbooking ~everything I do.  I would rather have something old than something brand new~ Ok, there I said it!!

I really want to inspire you, to make a board for your "scrappy" area!!  I love to create around things that I love and enjoy!!!  My area is a reflextion of what I like.  I love to pin new inspiration on my board.  In fact I love it so much I made another board~

I'm ready for my next junk'n trip~ I have plenty of room to pin new goodies on ~can't wait!!!

This is some vintage material that I had just a piece of~but it spoke to me!! The flowers are so pretty and the colors are "my colors"!!!!

I will be showing a tutorial on how I made this in a few days ~ so find you a cool picture frame, felt and cloth and Helmar 450 Quick Dry {awesome stuff}and you will be ready.  This one was going to the dump and I rescued it { uh~can I have that?} ~the top one belonged to my paternal grandmother and it was in pieces when it was given to me!!!  See ya soon~have a good one!!!

Spellbinders~lacey circles

I treated myself to these lacey circles by Spellbinders~they make the prettiest flowers!!!

I used some old phone book paper and stacked several on top ~all sizes, scrunched them up and inked away!!! I used the Glimmer Mists and Shimmerz Paints to add color to the flower.  I think tissue paper would be pretty stamped and scrunched also!! I need to try that next!!

I used scrap cardstock and pattern papers~these are Jenni Bowlin !!!! The chipboard buttons are Graphic45.  The size of the cards are 4x4 ~ a perfect size to tie on or mail!!  Have a great day and always~
Thanks for stopping by!!!!

Keys~

This is 30 years of old keys~don't they look cool, all together, on a big ring.  A friend of mine has inspired me to decorate them with beads, paint, silver, gold, buttons, metal etc.  I have collected up some stuff and can't wait to get started.

The Tim Holtz distress paints and inks will be perfect for this!  Can't you just see a key dangling from a decorated gift bag or an altered project or better yet an "inspiration board" {I'll get back to that later}~ Just a thought.  I will be working on mine and posting them as soon as I get some completed.

Keys are a wonderful thing~ Link me up~I would love to see what you do with them!!! One last idea ~dangling from a bottle of wine, that your giffting~super cute!!!

Try it Tuesday~3 pieces of paper

Try it Tuesday is here!!! I took three sheets of 12x12 paper and some pieces and made one layout and two cards!!! I did use some of my scraps~love to do that!!!  The pattern paper is by  3 Bugs in a Rug, the trim is Fancy Pants and the journal spot is Jillibean Soup.  I used some buttons and a border punch by EK Success.  I love these pictures of our little guys getting know each other and learning to take turns~

And here are the two cards~I did get in my scraps for the Kraft cardstock.  These are quick, easy tag/cards that can be tied on the gift or put in an envelope and mailed.

The last time I went junk'n I found an old scrabble set and this is the game board out of that set~very cool, don't you think!!! I'm nursing a cold so hoping to get well fast!!! Have a great day and link me up ~ show me what you can do with 3 pieces of paper!!!

Irish Soda Bread~

In the last post I said I was going to make Irish Soda Bread~after finding out from "sis" we had Irish blood !!! I must say it tastes like "Beer Bread" to me.  It has the same texture except the crust is crunchier!!

I made one loaf and added the wrong amount of baking powder ~ugh!!! So I made another ~correctly!!!
Both were yummy so I guess it doesn't matter about the baking powder amounts :)!!! My friend Dee talks about this bread all the time and makes eight loaves at one time. She is really IRISH!!!!

Hope she will pop on here and tell me if they look like hers!! This is the recipe I used ~ Irish Soda Bread
I'm also giving you the Beer Bread recipe~super easy:
3 cups self-rising flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 (12~ ounce) can of beer
Pre-heat oven to 375*F~lightly grease loaf pan~mix all three ingredients~ Pour in pan and bake  for 1 hour.
You can add herbs or shredded cheese or for sweet bread , raisins or cinnamon.  Enjoy!!!  See ya Tuesday for Try it Tuesday!!!!

Helmar USA Design Guest Designer Submission

Materials used:  Tim Holtz, K & Company, Jenni Bowlin Studios, Kaiser, Making Memories, Darkroom Door, Stampin'Up!(rubber stamp), Sizzix Die (felt flower), antique trim and button.
I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry on this project.  All of the embellishments are glued on the chipboard piece, that can be removed, to preserve the book cover.  To make the flowers~ I cut them out using the Big Shot and  the flower die by Sizzix.  I punched out a 1/4" circle and adhered the Helmar Quick Dry 450 to that, then rolled up the felt flower and added it the cardstock circle to the back~works great keeping the flower together while the glue is drying (which isn't long at all) and then you have a base to glue the flower down to the project.

Materials used: Jenni Bowlin Studios Making Memories, American Crafts, Bazzill Basics, Bazzill, Basic Grey/Curio, Kaiser, Prima, Ying ( Esty Shop).
I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry, Helmar Scrap Dots and Helmar professional Acid Free Glue on this layout.  I used the Helmar Scrap Dots on the small round sticker pieces. The large Prima flowers were adhered using the  Helmar 450 Quick Dry and the sticker piece at the top I used the Helmar Acid Free Glue.  The sticker at the top had sticky on it but because it was touching the photo I used the acid free to glue it on. Playing it safe!

Materials Used: Prima, Jenni Bowlin Studios, Basic Grey, Maya Road, Kaiser, American Crafts, 7gypsies and antique trim/ribbon.  I used the Helmar 450 Quick Dry, Helmar Professional Acid Free on this printers tray.  All of the flowers and embellishments on the outside of the printers tray were attached using Helmar 450 Quick Dry.  I used Helmars Professional Acid Free Glue on the paper and photos. The Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive is so fast attaching you are able to keep working ~no waiting to dry!
These are the three Helmar products I have and they have replaced my hot glue gun ~ no more burned finger tips !!! Thank you , Helmar!!!!

Try it Tuesday ~ sketch done twice!

I'm taking a free class over at 2 Peas by Shimelle.  The class is called 4 x 6 Photo Love!!!  This is the second month.  On her site she posts a sketch and what is really cool she does a video on her process.  Let me tell you she works fast!!!  I did this layout first~I used Echo Park, Jenni Bowlin and some buttons and trim.  This is my second try~
This one I used some older American Crafts paper and some odds and ends to complete it.  I use sketchs as a starting point, sometimes I do the sketch and other times, I go off on my own.  Thanks for popping in today. I love to read your comments and would love to see your work.  Link me up!!!  Have a great day!!!

2 more ~

These are the last two layouts I did for "Be our Guest Crop" over at Jenni Bowlin Studios!! I wish I could have done all the challenges but we had to leave and go out of town but ~ I ended up doing 10 challenges!!! Most of the products are Jenni Bowlin and a few extras here and there!! The challenge for the top one was to make a garland ~ I used the oval diecuts and machine sewed them together and then stapled them on with the Tim Holtz attacher. And the picture is of a Red Headed Wood Pecker ~ beautiful bird!!!  The challenge for the bottom layout was to use a lot of pictures.  I printed these out small and made a photo strip out of them.  I love doing that and I enjoy having so many pictures on a page!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I will be back on Tuesday for "Try it Tuesday"!!! Have a great Monday and I hope we all adjust to the time change quickly!!!!

I'm at it again ~

junk'n, that is.  Besides being crafty, I love to go junk'n.  My favorite is primitive "junk"( antique's) but lately I have really enjoyed finding unusual items for my scrapbooking layouts!!  I love to re-purpose something old into something useful again.
I love old buttons~very hard for me to walk by them, this time I didn't!!!  In the jar of buttons was one dice that had "7 up" printed on it~could be to a game, but still very cool!!!  The jar had some old "bling" buttons in it ~those are getting harder to come by.  The scrabble game with the bag of tiles really put a smile on my face!!!  But wait.......................

the old keys!!!!! A steal at $2 each.  The chandelier crystals are always a favorite of mine.  This time I found some smokey grey~I can just see these wire wrapped for a pendant!!!  Last but not least  is floral frogs~I'm seeing less and less of these, I think all the card makers have them~anyway had a great time with one of my BFF~she is always up for a junk'n trip!!! Really, I'm not braggin' ~ just wanted to share !!!  Have a great weekend!!

little hands~

Back home from a quick trip to see my "favorite" parents and "my sis".  Had a great time visiting with mom!!! I'm going to make her a Tim Holtz configuration box, for her birthday and what a blast we had searching for "cool" things to put in it!!!!  This layout is one a did at the "Be our Guest Crop" over at Jenni Bowlin Studios!!!  I love the colors in this ~the quilt effect~the challenge was not to use a trimmer to cut your paper.  You had to use pieces or tear the paper.  The back is a mess but what you see is clean lines!!!
This is such a "sweet" photo.  On this challenge, it was the color scheme!  These were the colors we had to use on our layout!  These colors go so well together and make for such a beautiful layout!!!  If you haven't been over to JBS ~ they have a new forum and community and you can find all of her new products in the mercantile!! And a little side note ~ I got to go junk'n!!!!! Whoo hoo made my day~ really!!!Have a great day!!!

Try it Tuesday fun!!!

This was super fun to make!!!I used the Core'dinations ( Jenni Bowlin) cardstock for the base of my small tag/card!! I added some trim and my handmade flower ( from an old phone book), placed a button in the center of the flower.  The lady image is by Darkroom Door~she has a pink tint to her and she worked perfect for this card.  This is another company that has fabulous stuff1!  I used the bingo card in the center~that was the challenge to make a card using a JBS bingo card!

This challenge was the products and I happened to have all four products needed for this.  I was taking a break from scrapbooking~so this is what I came up with~my version of a photo stand!! All of the products used on this wooden spool are JBS!  I used some Claudine Hellmuth multi-med matte and Helmar 450 adhesive to get it put together!!  So my challenge to you is take a break from scrapp'n and be "creative". Would love to hear from you!!! Have a great day!!

the results of a fun scrappy weekend~

It has been a busy weekend and so much fun.  I got 7 layouts, 2 cards and 1 photo project done for the Jenni Bowlin ~ Be our Guest Crop !!! So guess what you are going to be seeing for the next couple of days.  One of my favorite things about Jenni Bowlin's line of scrapbooking supplies is it all goes together so well.  It doesn't matter if you are scrap'n her older papers or the latest line~it will work together.
This layout the challenge was to use ovals

This was a fun one~ I usually don't scrapbook large photos but that was the challenge.  This photo was taken a few days ago and I thought it was so cute~the baby trying to keep up with mama cow!!
If you haven't been over the JBS you should go take a look.  They have a new forum and if you are that close might as well go check out the mercantile!! You won't be disappointed!!!
See ya tomorrow for Try it Tuesday!!!

JBS weekend crop~

I'm over at Jenni Bowlin Studio's doing a weekend crop.  These are two challenges from last night and this morning, that I have photographed ~so I posted them. The challenge, on the layout, was to use a quote. I'm not sure if this a quote it is what I had and could tie in with my picture!!
This was a card challenge that we did this morning  The challenge was to have something dangle from the card.  Both of these we had an hour to complete , photograph and post!!  Thank goodness they weren't strict on the time.  I'll post some more later. Have a great today!!!

More Jillibean Soup!!!!

This is one of my favorite pictures!!!! The body language of a four year, having to share his prized 4 x 4 truck with other children!!! So sweet!!! Clinched fist and all.!! I used Jillibean Soup, Bazzill, American Crafts and Cosmo Cricket!!

I love these pony pictures. I have one of each "grand" on the pony!! I used Jillibean Soup and Cosmo Cricket! I shaded the title area with some of Claudine Hellmuth's fabulous acrylic paint!!

And last this sweet little pocket card made from a coupon die cut by Jillibean Soup.  This pocket is very easy to make~cut your shaped cardstock paper in half and fold it in to thirds. Adhere at the bottom and you have a pocket ready to hold a coupon!!!  I had a great day yesterday~ I made the team at Epiphany Crafts!!! You can check it out here!!!! Have a wonderful day and see ya soon!!!!

Try it Tuesday~with Jillibean Soup

I love soup especially Jillibean !!!!  This pattern paper ( Alphabet Soup) is an older release but it is still fabulous!  I love how the paper's work so well with each other.  I used five different patterns in this line and they couldn't be more perfect with these photos.

My granddaughter has decided we (her and I) are going to host a Spring party.  I'm to bring the turkey sandwiches, with mayo, decorations and kid treats. I made the banner with the Spring party in mind!!  I used the Alphabet Soup paper line~the only other item added was the Tim Holtz tissue tape.

Here is the corner end and a view of the completed banner. I hope this meets with the approval of a six year old girl!!! This was fun to make and I enjoyed using what was in my stash!!!  I had two sets of this paper because I loved it when it came out ~ so now it is time to get more Jillibean Soup!!  Hope you have a great Tuesday using what is in your stash!!!
