Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop with Clear Scraps!

Hi everyone!
Thanks for joining me for the Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!!
I have a couple of cards to share using the Cup Overflow Border Stencil
by Clear Scraps along with some modeling paste and Tumble Dye by S.E.I.

The S.E.I. Tumble Dye was sprayed, on watercolor paper, to create a background
and a space to place the cup stencil, using the modeling paste.

The modeling paste was applied twice to create a rich, white cup, in color.

The sentiment tag was created to resemble a hand stitched tag
(like what is in the back of a shirt).

Supplies used:
Stamps: Darkroom Door and Joy Clair
Ink: S.E.I. Tumble Dye, Dark Roast Silk by FSJ
Modeling Paste: DecoArt
Buttons Galore & More
twine
Paper: Bo Bunny

Special Thank You to Clear Scraps for sponsoring my project.  They have
generously given me two extra stencils to give away to two lucky winners.

Leave a comment and two winners will be chosen :) Winners will be

Stencils and vellum with Clear Scraps ~

Hi, Connie here with some fun cards using stencils by Clear Scraps.  Creating cards with stencils is easy to do.  All you need is ink or paint to stencil in the image with. Let me show a couple of cards I created using five different 6" stencils by Clear Scraps.

Clear scraps_stencil_vellum1-c.mercer

Clear scraps_cards_vellum2-c.mercer
Instructions:

  • Create a card by folding cardstock in half (this is about a 4" X 4").

  • Stencil background by using a 6" stencil by Clear Scraps.  Archival ink was used in my examples.

  • Set your card aside and on a piece of white cardstock stencil some larger, stand alone images, using different color inks.

  • Stencil about 4 different images and cut them out.

  • Add a piece of vellum over the background you created with the stencils.

  • Layer the cutouts at the bottom of the card.  Use dimensional adhesive (popping several up) to adhere to the bottom of the card.

  • Add sentiment over large stenciled images.

  • Add twine to the top of the card.

  • Speckle with ink spray or paint splats.
  • The next card was created in the same way, just using different stencils.

I loved the 6" Mustaches stencil by Clear Scraps.  It makes a really cute background for a card. On this card I used some of the mustaches for the larger images.  The word "Gentle" is on the 6" Fruit of the Spirit" stencil and was perfect for this card.  Follow the same steps, as listed above, to create this card.

    Clear scraps_vellum_stencils-c.mercer
This is an easy technique for creating fun and unique cards with stencils.  Using the vellum to tone it all down and then bring it back with the images at the bottom of the card.

    Supply list:
Clear Scraps: 6" Beach Fun, 6" Anchor & Helm, 6" Ocean Friends, 6" Mustaches and 6" Fruit of the Spirit.
    Other:
vellum, cardstock, stickers, twine, ink spray, stamp set .

Today I have a card to share using a stamp from Fun Stampers Journey.

I used another funky label I had collected and used the gorgeous feather stamps as
a background stamp too.  Tip ~When adding color to the stamp, hit it with different ink pads for a unique, one of a kind look.  Love doing that :)

Try It Tuesday~Oxides and Darkroom Door

    Hi guys!
I started watching the tutorials on the  Distress Oxide inks by Ranger and
was hooked, without even owning any.  So I took care of the owning part fast!!

The backgrounds are using the oxides and the sea shells are stamped
with the oxide but only splats of water applied to the shells (very controlled).

The oxide ink was applied to my Tim Holltz mat, sprayed with water and then I ran my white carstock through the color.  The more water you spray on the oxide, the more oxidation will happen.  It has a leathery look and feel.  The brown on the top of the card was added on top of the green.  Layering works with the oxides.  The colors stay on top , they don't bleed together.

You can see the controlled water splats on the shells.  The oxide only
     reacts to the water lands.

    Products used:
Ranger/Distress Oxide: peeled paint, faded jeans and walnut stain.
    Darkroom Door: Texture: map, Seashells.
    Stamper Anonymous: #hashtags.
    Tim Holtz: Tiny Attacher
    cardstock
    Scrapbook Adhesives
    S.e.i./black tumble dye

I hope you will give the Distress Oxides a try with your favorite
     stamps ~ so addicting :).
    Just warning you!!

Numbers Border Stamp by Darkroom Door~

    Hi guys!
I have a set of cards to share using the Numbers Border Stamp
     by Darkroom Door.
This is really a fun stamp and I see lots of ways to use it.
So you will see it again~

Using the Numbers Background stamp by Darkroom Door a background was
created for the card.  The Numbers Border stamp was stamped across
the bottom of a 12 X 12 sheet of white cardstock and trimmed out.
It was then cut in half to create the bottom border for the card set.

The Eclectic/Pencil stamp by Darkroom Door was stamped on white cardstock, in different coordinating ink colors and trimmed out.

The colored pencil images were layered on the front of the card.
Using the Word Block/Creativity by Darkroom Door the art words were stamped
on white cardstock and trimmed out.  Added some buttons and speckled with black ink spray.
Four inks made up the color pallet.

    Supplies:
    Ranger ink
    Divine Twine
S.E.I. Tumble dye (speckle card with)
    Buttons Galore and More

Filmstrip Border Stamp by Darkroom Door~

    Hi guys!!
Hubby and I went to the beach this past Friday so I thought these
cards would be fun to post.  I used the Filmstrip Border stamp by Darkroom Door.
I love that you can make two cards out of stamping the image
     one time on 12 X 12 cardstock.

I used the Seaside Inchies to stamp inside the filmstrip sections.  I used different
colors of ink for a blended look.  Several different colors of ink were used, that
coordinated well together (yellow, peach, orange).
The shells are stamped on white cardstock and cut out.

The Hashtags stamps by Stamper Anonymous made these cards really fun!!

    Supplies used:
    Darkroom Door: Border Filmstrip
Darkroom Door: Background: Woodgrain and Shells
    Stamper Anonymous: Hashtags
    Scrapbook Adhesives
    Ranger Archival ink

    Windsong Collection by Quick Quotes~

Hi, Connie here with a scrapbook page using the new Windsong Collection by Quick Quotes. I played off of the subtle seafoam color in the paper and added seafoam cardstock to bring out the color in the pattern paper.

The title is chipboard and it is easily colored with Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalk ink.

The more you pat it with color the darker it will become.  The chipboard stickers were colored with PowderPuff Chalk ink also.

The flowers are also shaded with PowderPuff Chalk ink.  Pull them apart and it is
easy to get good a coverage of ink on them.

    Supplies used:
    Quick Quotes: Farmhouse die cuts
Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalk inks: Antique Linen, Seafoam and Midnight Confessions

    Other:
    Want2Scrap: chipboard title and Rhinestones
    Divine Twine
    Petaloo flowers
    leaves
    Tumble Dye

Flour De Shaker by Clear Scraps.

Hi, Connie here with a gift idea using the Flour De Shaker by Clear Scraps.   Using an extra large tag and the Flour De Shaker, a super cute tag/card was made and even doubled as a gift.  Let me show you what I mean~

    Clear scraps_Flour de shaker_gift card_c.mercer
This is the front of the tag,  decorated with pattern paper and stickers.  To make the fold in the tag, find the center of the tag and score two lines , one on each side of the center guide. About a 1/2" space will work great for the shaker to have space. The background is acrylic paint splatted on with an old toothbrush. My favorite way to add color randomly to a background card or tag.  Here is a few step out photos of how the Flour De Shaker by Clear Scraps came together.

    Clear scraps_Flour De Shaker_sequins_c.mercer
Trace the shape of the Flour De on pattern paper and cut it out.  Small nail scissors work great for this.  Use Beacon 3-1 to adhere the pattern paper to the back  shaker chipboard piece. Add sequins to the inside, of the shaker, and glue on the frame and acrylic piece.  Remember to remove the plastic from the Flour De  shape.  Use a small paint brush and paint the front frame with acrylic beige paint.  The sides  were also painted .  When the paint is good and dry, the Flour De Shaker is ready to be adhered to the inside of the tag.

An inside look before the gift was added ~

The money was rolled up and stuck in under the twine.

other: pattern paper, twine, embellishments, extra large black tag, acrylic paint, stickers, Beacon 3-1 adhesive.
