Try It Tuesday ~ Mixed Media Canvas Bags!

Hi guys!
Thanks for stopping in for

I have been creating using, stencils, a 6" X 6" gel-press and paint.
Love it so much!!!  A little messy, but tons of fun !

Load the Gel-Press up with paint, then doodle in it and stamp ~ that's
how these were done.  Simple process getting the canvas covered
with color.  Stencils were added with black paint.  Border stencils
were used with white paint.  Details added with a liner brush to
highlight areas on the bag.

Buttons were hand sewn on the front of the bags.  Trim added in the
zipper pull.

Try it~ ok?
You will love the process and the really cool thing is, it is
really hard to mess up :)

Try It Tuesday~ Mixed Media Canvas Apron!

Hi guys!
I have a really fun project to share. Mixed Media and with lots of paint!
Our insurance agent gave hubby a canvas apron to use when he grills.
I got a hold of it before hubby did and did "my thing" on it.

I started with all these fun colors, stencils and one stamp!
I started by adding color to the apron using Tumble Dye's by S.E.I.
I then added stencils with modeling paste. More stencils with acrylic paint
Brush work with acrylic paint.  Just kept adding until I got
the look I was wanting.  I still think I could of added stronger color to
the apron before I started applying stencil work.

The stencils were applied in random spots using different colors of paint. A sponge
was used to apply the color.

Products used:
S.E.I. Tumble Dye
DecoArt/acrylic paint and modeling paste
StazOn ink
Clear Scraps/stencils
Darkroom Door/stencils
Dylusions/stencils
Jenni Bowlin Studio/stencils

Try It Tuesday~pickin' in Indiana!!

Hi guys!
We had such a great time in Indiana with our kids. We lucked into
a pickin' opportunity and, if you know me, I was all in.

A view of the things I got but let me back up and start at the beginning~

This is the house that is set to be torn down.  The doors were open and all
were welcomed.  We had permission, from the owners, that we could
take what we wanted.  The house had pretty well been picked over
but what is one persons trash is another persons treasure.  So true!!!
The old chairs, with a wicker bottom in them, caught my eye first.
They are pretty rough but will look great, just like they are, with a succulent
on them. That's the plan~
The door was taken from under a stairwell.  It is much smaller
than a normal sized door.  It was love at first sight!!

We got three sets of black porcelain doorknobs and some hardware.
I will do something really neat with these.  They have paint on them
but other than that no chips.
The first thing I did (like last week) cleaned the door and
painted it  with chalk paint by DecoArt.  After each coat
the door was sanded down.
The old coat hook was also picked from the old house. It fir perfect
on the old door.  I painted one of the pallet signs, by
Clear Scraps, to make a sign for the door.

A stencil from the Farmhouse Collection was used to create the
"Amazing Grace" sign.
This is how I used these picks from Indiana~

The door, taken from under a stairwell, with the old coat hook.

The old chairs with the wicker bottom, perfect to set a plant on.

and
elbow grease, lots of it!!!

Stamping with Stampendous! and Clear Scraps~

Hi guys!
Your read right, stamping with Stampendous! and Clear Scraps.
I have a couple of projects to share using Clear Scraps wood
shapes with Stampendous! stamps I have never just stamped on wood, treating
it like paper but I did just that.

I created a short tutorial, with photos, to show how this was put together~
#1.  The wood hearts were sanded lightly and then painted with a coat of acrylic paint.
 Color you choose~
#2. The image was stamped on the wood using Distress Oxide/Jet Black.  I heat set it with a heat tool.
#3. Acrylic paints were used along with a no.0 size paint brush.
#4. After the image is painted. heat dry, speckle with black acrylic paint.  I use an old toothbrush brush.  Gives you good control on the splats.
#5. The Stampendous! stamp set comes with a die, so I die cut the branch with leaves from green cardstock.

Another key ring was created using the same supplies, except for the stamp.
 Take a look~

Here is a short tutorial~
#1. This one was created a little different.  The stamp used is a 6"X 6" background stamp by Stampendous! and the wood heart by Clear Scraps is 4"X 4".  Sand the wood heart lightly and wipe down with a soft cloth.
#2. Add spots of color (Distress Oxide) in random areas on the stamp.
#3. Lay the wood heart on top of the inked stamp and press all around making sure the heart has been inked.
#4. Heat set with a heat tool and then splat lightly with black ink.
#5. Punch a hole in the top of the wood heart, add an "o" ring and trim with fabric strips.

Products used:
Clear Scraps: 4" wood hearts
Stampendous!: Monkey with die set
Stampendous!: 6" Fern Garden stamp
Ink: Distress Oxide
Paint: DecoArt
other: "o" rings, fabric, cardstock
