Home Decor with Clear Scraps ~

Hi, Connie here with a home decor project using several of the, newly released, Mascils by Clear Scraps.  I always look forward to the new Mascils that are released each year and this year was no exception.  Beautiful birds, flowers, shiplap, an owl, an unicorn, hearts and plaid hearts, just to name a few.  They come in 6" and 12" and are perfect for mix media projects.



This was such a fun piece to create.  I started by adding color to muslin fabric and then started using the Mascils to create the different patterns.



On this section, of the muslin fabric, the color was added and then stencils (using acrylic paint) and the modeling paste, for the bird.  I use a pallet knife but an old credit card or gift card works great also, when applying the modeling paste.   After using the modeling paste rinse the stencil with water and set aside to dry.



On this corner the quote was stenciled on using black acrylic paint.  It only takes a small amount of paint to get a great print, using a stencil.  Less is more in this case.  Using to much paint can cause the paint to go under the stencil, making a mess of your project.  Practice, to get a feel as to how much paint or ink to add when using a stencil, is always a good idea.

Try It Tuesday: the TABLE~ hubbys project!

 Hi guys!! Have I got a treat for you today.

My hubby is a pretty talented guy. He loves working with wood and loves

 the challenge of creating something beautiful out of something 

that most would consider trash.  Wish I had his vision~

I was not home to take earlier photos of him gluing the wood and putting the pieces

 of wood in the clamps.  This is how far he had gotten

 when I got back home (four days later). 

 It is made out of Oak and Dogwood material.  The picture on the right is what the

 wood looked like when he started the project.  Just planks of rough wood.

His vision was a butcher block table.  I think he captured that :) 

It ended up residing in my craft room as my scrapbook table.  

It is so much bigger than the table I was using.  I love it and I love him for suggesting it

 would be awesome in my craft room.  Really, he is awesome :)

Quick Quotes and Canon, all you need to create with!!

Hi, Connie here stopping by to share a scrapbook page using the Whistlin' Dixie Collection by Quick Quotes, along with my Canon iP8720 Printer.  I started with one photo and was wishing I had 1 more but then I got this idea, that involved my iP8720 Canon Printer, to use portions of the photo in a film strip.  The title of this page is "1 leg & a body" that is how my grandson ordered his fried chicken. He is such a hoot!!!

Let me explain the process:

The top picture shows how I kept adding the same photo to The Garden Image program (came with the iP8720 Canon Printer) but I moved it to capture different segments, of the picture, making for a really cool photo strip.  The 4 picture collage was cut down the middle, to create the photo strip. The bottom photo is the original picture printed with no border in the 4"X6" size.

The photo strip was matted on white cardstock.  I used Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalk inks to shade around the pattern paper and chipboard stickers.

Side note: I thought it was cool that the red and yellow pattern paper matched the red and yellow stripes on the beverage glass.

The page was embellished with stickers and chipboard from the Whistlin' Dixie Collection by Quick Quotes.  Journal the story and add the title.  We will enjoy this page, and the story, for many years!!

Hi guys!!

I have been scrapbooking and  have a really cute page to share.  I used some

 old Bella Blvd. supplies but still super cute and perfect for the photo !

I love this little boy so much. The way he reacts to his daddy just touches my heart.

You can sure see they both adore each other.  He is happy to be in his dads strong arms.

I named the page " You are kinda a BIG Deal" because he is!

The name of the paper set and embellishment pack is called Alex. 

My eyes really love the blue tones!!

I used several different stickers to create the title.  Love mixing it up like that.

Some of them are from way back and I still think they work for todays trends!!

Grandkids Birch Wood Frame by Clear Scraps~

Hi, Connie here with another, awesome, new product by Clear Scraps.  The XL Birch Wood Frame  is a beautiful home decor product that comes in different shapes and different sentiments plus did I tell you these products are Made in the USA.  Love that!!!!!   


Here are some photos of how the Grandkids Birch Frame was created ~


Paint the word (Grandkids) with acrylic paint and let dry.
Paint the heart frame with a contrasting color and let dry.


Cover the inside of the heart with pattern paper.  I used Beacon 3 - in -1 to adhere the heart paper to the wood.  Cover the two photo spaces at the bottom with pattern paper also.


Using Beacon 3-in-1,  glue the frames over the spaces covered with pattern paper.  Now the fun part, decide on the photos and embellishments.  Paint any embellishments that will be used to decorate the wood frame.


The frame is easy to create and only a few items to glue down.   This is one example of many new Birch Wood Frames by Clear Scraps.  Great gift ideas using these beautiful frames.

Valentine card ~

Hi guys!!

Just a quick easy Valentine card to share !!

I used the Just My Style set and the Hearts set by Darkroom Door.

The background is created using the Torn Text BG stamp by Darkroom Door.

I used the steel rectangle die by A Jillian Vance Design to cut the rectangle.  The rectangle was then mounted on black cardstock and adhered to the front of the card, with foam squares by Scrapbook Adhesives.

The stamped images were stamped and then cut out and adhered on the card front.

The sentiment was stamped and cut out, then speckled the card with silver ink spray.
