Good morning!!! Here are those junkin' pics I promised!!! These are large {really large} about 4" long safety pins. Pretty cool find~ wish I had more of them. Here I paired it up with some Jenni Bowlin and made a mini album {about the grands}!!!
I have three and haven't seen them in stores for a while now. I have been told these large pins were used on sailor's duffle bags to close them in the 40's. I think the top two are a later version~they have no date.
Closer view of the two that are not dated~
If anyone has info on these would love to here it!
OK now you know~hardware is my thing. This sets on my table in the family room. Cool, right?
Old door knobs, hinges, back plates, brass knob, pull handles~love it all!!!
Close-up, as you can see the rust doesn't bother me one little bit!!
These were given to me by a friend~love that door hinge. I want to do soemthing really cool with it.
I know I'm going re-paint these~just got to find the perfect spot for them. They will make beautiful decorative corners for inside your windows or use to hold a shelf.
I have five "grands" so I have been collecting the number five. I want to do a display of 5's in my home somewhere !!! Thanks for stopping by today~glad the weekend is here!! Have a good one and I'll see ya soon!

Those are so cool Connie! Love stuff like that! Waving hello and hope all is well. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your vintage finds. :)
ReplyDeleteConnie, those large safety pins were probably issued with military laundry bags. I know I had some and the bags they went with. Mine were about 4 - 6 inches long, and they held the laundry bags together. From what I understand they would wash the whole bag, without taking the clothes out of it. I think my brother has my bags, and pins. Love Penny aka old junkie too!
