Watermelon Fun with Clear Scraps!

Hi, Connie here with a fun mixed media project using eight  different stencils by Clear Scraps.  All you need is a tree stump cut like a watermelon.  That is not a hard request if you have a hubby with a chain saw and you live on a ranch.  Let me show you~


I love how it came together. It will look great on the patio this Summer.
Especially for a family that loves watermelon.


Instructions:

Seal the wood. So important. The wood will eat the paint, just soak it up.  Also a side note on the slice of wood, this one has been curing for 3 years.  It was good and dry.

Paint the red acrylic for the meat of the watermelon and then the green for the watermelon rind.  Let the paint dry.

Using the Clear Scraps stencils start layering.  First layer is stencil with modeling paste.  I did four separate areas.  Let dry or use heat tool to dry it quicker.  Make sure the area you are about to stencil on is flat.

Next add some different images and use acrylic paint.  Overlap the images.  I used white acrylic.

Next add another image and use black acrylic.  My last image I used green acrylic for the leaves.  I even doodled a little around the leaves.

The word is next. Make sure everything is dry, then stencil the word on the front.

Last thing I did was speckle the painted watermelon, with black and white acrylic paint, and then sealed the project with an acrylic glossy sealer. An old toothbrush works great for the speckling.

12" Fruit of the Spirit, 6" Chevron, 6" Chicken Wire, 6" Humming Bird, 6" Spiral and 6" Doily by Clear Scraps.

Watermelon Card with Darkroom Door~

Hi guys!!

I have a watermelon card to share using the Brush Strokes set 

by Darkroom Door.

Can you tell which stamps I used?

Instructions~ 

I masked off the top right corner stamp to make the meat of the watermelon. 

 The watermelon rind is from the middle curvy brush stroke.  

I love taking out a stamp set and seeing what I can create with it~

very fun to do!!!!

Try It Tuesday~ just an old stump!!!

 

Hi guys~do you see what I see?  I have had these for over 4 years. I had them special cut. I was going to paint them to look like watermelon slices for my patio table:):)  and finally I did just that last week.

Just in time for ~

I used red, white, green and black acrylic paint.  I also used a small sponge and a mop brush { med size}.  A small rd brush was used for the watermelon seeds.

 

The 5 cents is put on with a stencil by Maison De Stencils. 

I thought about putting them in this~

 

but it is being used right now, so I will have to wait.
