Organizing FUNdamentals ~ part 1

If you love vintage and love to be organized you are in the right place.  I’m Connie Mercer and I’m thrilled to be sharing my crafty space with you today.   I’m always on the lookout for vintage storage that will inspire me when I craft.   I have been a “junker”  all my life and have been told I have a good eye but really I just pick up stuff that inspire me.   It is that easy~
 

I want to be the best I can be and I feel like surrounding myself with items that inspire me is a good place to start.  My home is vintage and I craft vintage so it just made sense to me to bring my vintage inspiration into my work area ~ so I did!  By doing this it helped define my style as a designer.
  

I’m going to take you around my room and then show you some close up photos that will show you some ideas for organizing, using vintage containers and style for inspiration.  Keep in mind this is what inspires me, you would want to surround yourself with items that inspire you.  OK let’s get started~

 

Close up photo of ribbon storage.  I wrap ribbon and or twine onto old spools and put them in large glass jars.  I also use Cigar boxes {which remind me of my grandfather} to hold clips and miscellaneous items.  

 

My stamp sets are stored on shelves along the side of the wall.  I use old clothes hangers to showcase a scrapbooking page which makes me happy! 
 

This is a favorite area; it shows my props and photographing area.   I also use a vintage dish drainer to hold books that I use in photographing my projects.
 

The wooden stand {on your left} was built by my brother-in-law, to hold my cardstock.  The enamel top cabinet was given to me a by a good friend, that knows my love for vintage.  I use this piece to store tools such as paper trimmers and extra photo’s.   The five wall represents my five grandchildren that inspire me every day!!!

 

 

My brother-in-law made this too, pretty impressive!!!

These are old canning jars that I put Prima flowers in. I sorted them by colors.  The gum ball machine was my boy,s, I put large buttons in it that I don’t use very often.   In the corner you can see a old beverage bottle I have put dew drops in.  I love the graphics on the bottle.

My computer desk and vintage family photos on the shelf ~ my people inspire me!

The old lamp shade displays ephemera perfectly.

Try It Tuesday~remember these~

 I love collecting these sweet little shoes~they make me smile.  I can just imagine some cute little feet in them.  I have 7 shoes and I wanted to use them in my crafty space to enjoy the cuteness of them but have a purpose. Being cute is definitely a purpose in my book:):):)   

So this is what I did~

 

I just use them as little storage compartments for small items. They are just the right size to hold brushes, Q-tips, twine and other small items I use when I create. I still have room for two more shoes:):):)

Pinterest recipes~ baked two of them today!

 Hi guys~I set up two new Pinterest boards yesterday.  It seems lately everything I try is not good or doesn't come out like the pinner says it does, so I decided to make boards for the fails and the successes.  That way you can check it out if you want to re-pin.  Today I made this Blueberry Breakfast Cake and yes it was delicious!  Just like was promised.

 

I made these too.  Peanut Butter Cookies .  I put them on the fail board because they were a mess to make and I thought they were not done in the middle.  To cook longer they would have burned.  A side note though, hubby liked them, so maybe it is personal taste.  They are very chewy and fall apart.  I was interested in them because they are 36 calories per cookie and healthy {no processed sugar uses honey instead}.   So these may grow on me:):):)  I invite you to my Pinterest Boards HERE.

As I was cleaning up my cooking mess and I heard a loud buzzing sound, couldn't figure out what it was.  I stepped outside to find a swarm of bee's going into a large tree hole in our front yard~

Recipe Box~Craft Crossing Class!!!!

 

Hi guys~ My class at Craft Crossing is this Saturday at 10:30.   We are going to make this recipe box using the 7gypsies drawer.  This will make a great Mother's Day gift!!  It is really cute and will be the perfect place to hold your favorite family recipes.

Hi guys~I have a couple more layouts to share with you using the March JBS paper crafting kit.  This kit is sold out but you can check out April's kits in the JBS Mercantile.  One of my favorite things about the JBS kits are they come with ephemera.  I love the way it enhances the paper project just by being on the paper:):)

I loved the doilie stickers ~ I used them twice, every piece.  The peel off and the sticker.  The peel off was just as cute as the sticker so, on it goes:):)
